Sub speciality interests

Full range of arthroscopic and open shoulder surgery including: arthroscopic subacromial decompression (ASAD),arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, arthroscopic shoulder stabilisation, SLAP repair, biceps tenodesis, shoulder replacement, revision shoulder replacement and fixation of shoulder fractures.

Training

Cameron Hatrick trained at Clare College, Cambridge; St. Thomas’ Hospital, London; on the St Bartholomew’s surgical rotation and on the South East Thames Orthopaedic rotation. He undertook fellowships in Sydney, Australia, sub-specialising in shoulder, elbow and hand surgery. In 1999 he was awarded the Walter Mercer Gold Medal and Arthur Edward Burton Memorial Prize for his performance in the FRCS (Tr & Orth) exam. In 2001 he was appointed as a Consultant at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust (BSUH). He has been the Lead Orthopaedic Consultant for BSUH and served a term on the council of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS) from 2016-2018. He is currently a member of the BESS Instructional Course Committee, is an examiner for the final FRCS (Tr & Orth) exam and is a faculty member of the Watanabe Club, teaching advanced arthroscopic techniques to trainee surgeons across the UK. He is the Medical Director of The Montefiore Hospital.

Personal interests

Cameron is married to a local GP and has three children. Two of his daughters have followed in the family footsteps and are junior doctors. His son has bucked the trend and decided to become a lawyer! He enjoys the great outdoors, hiking and biking on the Downs and further afield, skiing, playing tennis (being beaten comfortably by his son), sailing and windsurfing (fair weather only these days!).
