Training

I trained at Leicester University and undertook my surgical training in the Northeast of England. After my basic surgical training, I was a research fellow in General Surgery and was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) at the University of Newcastle prior to undertaking a higher surgical training in Trauma & Orthopaedics.  I completed my training with a post-CCT Hand Fellowship at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital (October 2016-October 2017).  I went on to become a locum hand consultant at the Pulvertaft Hand Unit in Derby (October 2017-January 2018) during which time I was awarded the British Diploma of Hand Surgery (March 2018) by the BSSH and University of Manchester. I was appointed as a substantive orthopaedic hand surgeon at the Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals Trust and moved down with my family to live and start work here in April 2018.

Recent research interests have included being Principal Investigator for an NIHR funded randomised control trial regarding Dupuytren’s disease (DISC), and a recent collaboration with a PhD student at Imperial College studying biomechanics of the thumb base.
